Generic bookkeepers miss what drives pest control profitability.

Pest control businesses run on route density, chemical cost control, and recurring contract churn. Most bookkeepers treat chemical purchases as a lump expense and have no concept of cost-per-stop or contract-level margin. The result: you know your revenue but not your profit.

What changes with TurnkeyCFO

What most bookkeepers miss
  • Recurring contracts all lumped as "revenue" — no MRR visibility, no churn tracking
  • Chemical costs expensed as bought — no cost-per-stop or job-level COGS
  • No route profitability — can't tell which routes or contract types have best margin
  • All techs coded to the same workers' comp class — overpays premiums
  • Service vehicles expensed at purchase instead of depreciated

Everything your pest control business needs. Nothing it doesn't.

Core

Monthly bookkeeping & close

Accurate categorization of chemical costs, labor, route overhead, and recurring vs one-time revenue. Full monthly close with P&L and balance sheet — split by service type so you see the real margin of your subscription base vs one-time treatments.

Most popular

Recurring contract revenue tracking

Monthly, quarterly, and annual service agreements tracked separately — so you see your true monthly recurring revenue, renewal rates, and contract churn. Deferred revenue treatment applied correctly when annual contracts are prepaid.

Pest-specific

Chemical cost & COGS tracking

Chemical and product purchases tracked as job-level cost of goods sold — not lumped into general supplies. Cost per stop tracked by service type so you know your true gross margin on general pest, termite, mosquito, and specialty services.

Ops

Technician payroll

Payroll for licensed applicators, field techs, and office staff — correct workers' comp classification per role, quarterly 941 reconciliation, Gusto integration. License renewal cost tracking per employee.

Asset tracking

Vehicle fleet depreciation

Service vehicles tracked as fixed assets with correct depreciation schedules — Section 179 and bonus depreciation documented and reconciled to your CPA's tax return categories. Mileage or actual cost method tracked per vehicle.

Ops

Bill pay & AP

Chemical supplier invoices, equipment, and vendor bills tracked and paid on schedule so your AP is current and your chemical cost data is accurate for margin analysis.

Deep working knowledge of pest control finances.

Recurring contract MRR

Contract count doesn't tell you if you're growing or just replacing churn.

Monthly recurring revenue tracks the actual value of your subscription base — net of cancellations, upgrades, and new adds. Knowing your MRR, churn rate, and average contract value lets you make real decisions about marketing spend, route expansion, and acquisition vs retention investment.

Chemical COGS per stop

Not all service types have the same chemical cost profile.

General pest service uses minimal chemical per stop. Termite treatments, mosquito programs, and fumigations are chemical-intensive. Without tracking chemical cost per service type, you can't tell which services are priced correctly — or which are eroding your gross margin as input costs rise.

Route profitability

Route density determines your actual cost per stop.

Drive time between stops is a fixed labor cost. Routes with low geographic density have higher cost per stop than dense urban routes at the same contract price. Without route-level cost tracking, you can't identify which routes to reprice, consolidate, or walk away from at renewal.

Deferred revenue on prepaid contracts

Annual prepaid contracts aren't income at collection.

When a customer prepays an annual contract, you've collected cash but not yet earned the revenue. Booking it all at collection overstates income in Q1 and understates it for the rest of the year. We recognize prepaid contract revenue monthly as service is performed — correct from day one.

Workers' comp by license level

Licensed applicators and technicians carry different rates.

Licensed structural pest control applicators and general field techs carry different workers' comp classification codes. Coding everyone under one class overpays premiums and creates audit exposure at renewal. Correct classification set up from first payroll, reconciled annually.

Vehicle & equipment fleet

Service vans and spray equipment are fixed assets.

Service vehicles, spray rigs, and major equipment are fixed assets depreciated over 5–7 years. Section 179 and bonus depreciation can accelerate deductions in the purchase year. We track every asset from purchase and reconcile to your CPA's return categories at year-end.

Questions pest control companies ask us first

Do you replace our CPA?

No — we work alongside your CPA. We keep books clean and filing-ready year-round. If you need a CPA who understands service businesses, we can refer one.

Can you track recurring contract revenue?

Yes. We track service agreements by type and frequency — monthly, quarterly, annual — so you see your true MRR, renewal rate, and contract-level margin. Prepaid annual contracts are recognized correctly as revenue is earned, not at collection.

How do you track chemical costs?

Chemical and product purchases are tracked as job-level COGS, not lumped into general supplies. We build your cost tracking around your service types so you can see gross margin per service category and cost-per-stop by route.

Do you work with PestPac, ServiceTitan, or Jobber?

Yes. We integrate your pest control software with QuickBooks so contract revenue, job costs, and route data sync correctly without double entry.

Can we cancel?

Month-to-month, 30-day notice. No multi-year contracts.
